Frequently Asked Questions

What is catalog in lightroom classic?

A catalog is a database that stores a record for each of your photos. This record contains three key pieces of information about each photo: When you import photos into Lightroom Classic, you create a link between the photo itself and the record of the photo in the catalog.

How to select only the best photos in lightroom classic?

If you import all photos into your Lightroom Classic catalog, you need to select only the best photos for further post-processing. Using flags can be considered the first step. It will allow you to reject the worst, and keep the nominees. By adding flags you can also distinguish the photos you already have looked at.

Does lightlightroom classic make a backup?

Lightroom Classic will make a backup from your catalog but not from your photos. So you will have to perform a good backup from your photos yourself. That is why I advise a good folder structure for your photos on the hard drive. This way you are certain everything will be backed up properly.

How do i open a lrcat file in lightroom classic?

Double-click the .lrcat file in the new location to open it in Lightroom Classic. (Optional) If Lightroom Classic can't find folders or photos in the copied or moved catalog, a Question Mark icon appears by folder names in the Folders panel and an Exclamation Point icon appears in photo thumbnails in the Grid view.
