Whats the difference between Azure Data Catalog and Azure

Just Now Stackoverflow.com

1 Answer1. Active Oldest Votes. 10. You can think Purview as the next generation of Azure Data Catalog, and with a new name. There will be no ADC v2, Purview is what Microsoft earlier talked with name ADC v2. Microsoft aims to profile it a bit differently and this way the new name is logical for many reasons: Featurewise Purview is much richer.

Solved: Azure Data Catalog Integration? Microsoft Power

9 hours ago Community.powerbi.com

Hi all, From the Azure Data Catalog FAQ: You can think of Azure Data Catalog as an evolution of the Data Catalog.Azure Data Catalog delivers similar capabilities for data source publishing and discovery, but is focused on broader scenarios and not dependent on Office 365. Shortly after the Azure Data Catalog becomes generally available the two catalogs will merge into a single service.

Azure Data Factory 2.0 Next Generation of Data Integration

5 hours ago Blog.tomkerkhove.be

1. There were a couple of drawbacks & missing features when using the service: 1. Only Supports Data Slicing- The only way to schedule your data pipeline was to run every x minutes, hours or days and process the data that was in that time slice. You couldn't trigger it on demand or whatsoever. 2. No Granular Scheduling Control- No granular control on when the pipeline should be triggered in terms of calendar scheduling ie. only run during the weekend 3. Limited Operational Experience- Besides the Monitor-portal, the monitoring experience was very limited. It only supported sending email notifications that were triggered under certain criteria while it did not provide built-in metrics nor integration with Azure Monitor 4. JSON All The Things- The authoring experience was limited to writing everything in JSON. However, there was also support for Visual Studio, but even there it was only to edit JSON files 5. Learning Curve- The learning curve for new people was pretty steep. This is prim...

Two new Azure analytics GA releases, one preview and a big

1 hours ago Zdnet.com

By Andrew Brust · Feb 07, 2019 · 5 mins to read

1. Next, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) Gen2 hits GA today as well. Unlike the initial version of ADLS, the Gen2 release operates as a superset of Azure Blob Storage, but layers a true hierarchical file system on top of it, along with the ability to handle arbitrarily large files. Hierarchical file systems have first class support for folder structures. That's important in Big Data applications where data is often partitioned as groups of sequence files segregated by folder, necessitating folder-level operations that can treat all the files in a folder as a single unit of data. Standard cloud object storage systems keep all files in a root-level container, and create the "illusion" of folders by embedding directory names into files' metadata. The availability of ADLS Gen2 will essentially give Microsoft a two-tiered storage solution to counter Amazon's S3. While Amazon's one-size-fits-all story has the advantage of simplicity, ADLS gives Microsoft a great Big Data solution, and one tha...

Data factory should be able to use VNet without resorting

5 hours ago Feedback.azure.com

Self hosted makes a lot of sense when integrating on-premise data, however it's a shame to need to maintain a self-hosted integration runtime VM when wishing to leverage the extra security of a VNet i.e. firewalled storage accounts etc. Ideally the azure managed integration runtimes would be able to join a vnet on demand.
